Note about Amelanchier arborea: Rust free serviceberries – to date, all serviceberries found by AFFN through commercial sources have been susceptible to rust. A few rust-free wild trees have been identified and are being collected via fruit exploration activity.
AFFN would like to add other berry types to the collection. Otbaining germplasm, whether in the form of cuttings, layers or seeds, has been very slow.
